Small successes.
Today I got two ladies through the knitted cast-on and their first two rows of garter stitch. And I had a helper, who taught another woman the long-tail cast-on. I hope they come back next week.

Hey, I was over at http://www.extremecraft.com/and they have a story up on the Counterfeit Crochet Project. Not that I'm advocating the students start off with a political action project, BUT there are some fun (and easy) purse designs on the Counterfeit site that Extreme has linked to. Just follow the links and you're on your way to faux Chanel(or Burberry if you're mad for plaid).
PS. many crochet tutorial links on the Counterfeit site.
